This khutbah (sermon) talks about the oncoming month of Sha'bân, and how and why we should make the most of it.
Some of the main points discussed:
- Allâh has made some parts of the year more blessed than others, Sha'bân being one of these
- Rasûlullâh SallAllâhu 'alayhi wasallam has said: "[Sha'bân] is a month to which people do not pay much attention, between Rajab and Ramadhân. It is a month in which the deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I like that my deeds be taken up when I am fasting." [Ahmad, an-Nasâî]
- Rasûlullâh SallAllâhu 'alayhi wasallam did not fast more in any month other than Ramadhân than he did in the month of Sha'bân [al-Bukhârî, Muslim]
- Our pious predecessors used to welcome Sha'bân as a great opportunity to prepare for Ramadhân, increasing in their worship and refraining from sins
